Wiedenmann UK dealers introduce all-electric agria 9700e tool carrier, to revolutionise way for implements and attachments

Wiedenmann UK dealers have access to exceptional technology by German manufacturer, Agria, which introduces an innovative eco-friendly way to power implements and attachments.

The all-electric agria 9700e remote-control tool carrier has scope to achieve dozens of maintenance and landscaping processes, quietly and emission-free.

Essentially, it is a versatile 48 V DC lithium-ion battery pack, mounted on caterpillar-style tracks which speeds purposefully along the flat or up slopes to 50º. Engineers have produced a standard three-point attachment, (CAT 1), with floating hitch, to make it easy to mount different equipment.

The PTO drive (540 rpm to 1,000 rpm) is both variable and bi-directional giving operators full scope to maximise efficiency and work in tight spaces. It has two hydraulic spool valves and lifting capacity of 350 kg, together with a cat1 hook. The tool carrier uses stepless and brushless electric drive. Its lithium-ion battery (24.8 kWh/480 Ah) has protective extra-low voltage.

Andy Kerr, lead demonstrator, for both Agria and Wiedenmann UK, says the tool carrier is ‘extraordinary’, not least because it is carbon neutral and offers constant versatility.

“It compares favourably to a 30 hp tractor but offers even greener credentials; so all- electric, remote-controlled to 100 metres, minimal maintenance, no combustion engine, powers silently and is emission-free… yet it reaches places totally off limits to a tractor.

“For starters, it can work safely on slopes up to 50°. High banking and difficult gradients are its bread and butter. This opens a brand-new set of possibilities for those challenged with keeping amenity and residential areas groomed and healthy.

“You can put implements on the front or the back,” continued Andy Kerr. “Instantly with a flail mower attachment, like a Muthing Flail, unkempt areas can be tamed; unsightly vegetation can be shredded into fragments for faster decomposition. But it doesn’t just mow. Attachments can be swapped over to suit seasonality and the job in hand. You can work then tidy up behind in the same session.  The unit can be used to attach rotary decks, blowers, rakes, seeders, spiker tools, snow ploughs, gritters and winch mechanisms giving it no end of usefulness across the calendar.

“Sometimes Councils or contractors have their machines working hard maybe for five or six months, then they are effectively parked up. This offers year-round use.

“Think of it for soil conditioning, for scrub land and embankments, for landscaping and agricultural situations. In Germany, I’ve seen it with a pressure washer on the front and a trailer that pulls a 100 litre IBC storage tank on the back. It works, too, for vast areas and developments such as airports. Airside it could be outside sweeping or blowing dirt but inside it is equally suited polishing floors. It genuinely is that versatile.”

“Health & Safety is absolutely prioritised; the 9700e operates via a remote-control pad with joystick and 7cm colour display, allowing the operator to stand up to 100 metres away, always in a safe position.

“With its low centre of gravity, it can tackle steep inclines. Tilt and vibration sensors are built into the remote-control pad in case the operator accidentally trips or falls. When these sensors are triggered, the machine shuts down completely.

“Keeping employees safe always is imperative. Agria has cut down the amount of both worries and H&S paperwork.

“Each full charge of the lithium-ion battery gives up to eight hours of machine time. An optional fast charger is available that charges the battery from 15% to 100% in just one hour.

“It offers almost maintenance free operation compared to a combustion engine and low operating costs.

“Stepless and brushless- electric drive means the process is incredibly quiet and can work in low noise areas, such as outside schools and residential areas. Increasingly, because of its zero-carbon footprint, it meets the needs of estate managers, facility managers and environmentalists, working in protected areas such as Sites of Special Scientific Interest or with important habitat considerations for conservation, flora and woodland.”
