Everything about the Air<\/em> marks it as different. Take its\nfuturistic look; it could easily be mistaken for a robot, its head, neck and\nbody are actually a composite of three units in one. A base unit aerates or\nloosens soil to 30 mm using either spikes or fine slits. Then the top-mounted\npneumatic air <\/em>seeder assures a\nreceptive seed bed either pre or post top dressing. Finally, a brush and roller\ncombination incorporates top dressing materials to the ground before smoothing\nthe surface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The beauty of the machine is the amount of accuracy and\nchoice it gives. Controls are worked from inside the cab. Memory function\ncontrol pad stores input and calibration data for next use<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seed\ndistribution is absolutely uniform thanks to the pneumatic air flow and\ndeflector system.  Any of six seed dosing\nrollers can be chosen depending on grass species and task in hand.  The smallest is for pure bent seed with dosage\nrates as low as 0.5 g \/ m\u00b2 while there are options for bluegrass-ryegrass,\nfescue, mixes and coated seeds all the way up to 45 g \/ m\u00b2. Simply select the\nright cup size for the seed type and then the required number of cups in the dosing\nroller for the sow rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameron McMillan, Managing\nDirector of Djuke, the Surrey-based sports turf contractor, has used the Air<\/em> on football sites and golf courses\nacross the south east as part of several renovation projects. Most recently it\nhas been central to a programmed approach to slowly introduce creeping bent\nseed into older greens over the top of poa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe different\nroller sizes are hugely helpful.  With\ncreeping bent obviously we want the smallest seed carriage. We\u2019ve been working\nat approximately 3 g \/ m\u00b2.  Air chutes\ndeliver the seed consistently onto the baffle plates and they fan the seed out\nacross the sward into the holes created by the sarrel roller.  The holes are just right; not too small and\nnot too deep. Its quick we can do 9 greens easily in half a day with minimal\ndisruption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDelivering seed\nwell is not the easiest thing to do and let\u2019s face it, it\u2019s expensive. Essentially\nthe Air<\/em> is accurate and effective and\nyou know that you are not wasting any. Feedback from course managers is\nfavourable with a healthy strike rate and bookings for repeat business.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
