We purchased a\nrival machine literally weeks before the Terra Rake launch and had a severe\ncase of machine envy ever since. Now we finally have one,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graham\nBrumpton\u2019s first trial of the machine was actually on the Suffolk &nbsp;course\u2019s Purdis Heath 18<sup>th<\/sup> fairway\non the day it was delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t\nbelieve its productivity and speed. My team were looking on impressed\u2026 the more\nmomentum, the better the results.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An immediate\nproject for the Suffolk club, which comprises both an 18 hole and a 9 hole\ncourse, is thatch and moss removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOff the\nback of the drought last summer &#8211; and bearing in mind we are a heathland course\n&#8211; we applied generous amounts of iron. Now we want to remove all organic matter\nthat we can from the surfaces to open up the turf, letting moisture and light\nback in. We also drilled seed last year.&nbsp;\nWith such a dry autumn we didn\u2019t get much of a take on germination. Then\na very dry winter followed. I\u2019m hoping despite everything, the seed bed is\nstill in there.&nbsp; The Terra Rake is exactly\nthe kit to open it back up to return water and light.&nbsp; There\u2019s a still a hope to get germination\nfrom the seed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll\nfairways were terra-raked in March with a double pass.&nbsp; It really rips into remove the organic matter\nbut it also helps stand up the grass.&nbsp;\nWe\u2019ve followed on behind with our blowers and collecting units and it\u2019s made\na real difference.&nbsp; Like many greenkeepers\nin this part of the country we in the lap of the gods praying for significant\nrainfall to reap rewards of hard work done.\u201d&nbsp;\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graham\njoined the club straight from school in 1990 and became course manager in 2012.&nbsp; He now heads a team of eight.&nbsp; Ipswich GC also purchased &nbsp;a &nbsp;Wiedenmann Terra Spike GXi8 HD at the same\ntime, the club\u2019s third Terra Spike too speed up greens aeration and\nmicro-tining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-ordinating\nthe delivery and set up of both machines was Eddie Jack, Field Sales Manager\nfrom dealers Ernest Doe &amp; Sons at North Walsham.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ipswich Golf Club Courses Manager, Graham Brumpton, has a sizeable list of duties earmarked for his new 2.3 m Wiedenmann Terra Rake . \u201cIn all honesty we\u2019ve wanted this machine since the day it was released.
