Scottish\ncontractor, Fairways Sportsgrounds has won a contract to deep tine 60 football pitches\nand six golf courses operated by Glasgow City Council on behalf of Glasgow\nLife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each of the\npitches will enjoy four separate visits across a 12 month period. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bobby McDougall,\nBusiness Development Manager said: \u201cLast summer was the third wettest in\nGlasgow since records began 107 years ago. Even by our own local standards\nwe\u2019ve had some amount of rainfall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe pitches\nare across 25 different locations some with heavy clay soils and others with a\nlighter footprint. Our mission is to rid\nthem of compaction. Everywhere we go\nwe\u2019re trying for maximum depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nchallenge is applying the right amount of heave when conditions allow. Just by\nadding in 10 or 15 degrees of heave creates air pockets within the root zone,\nincreasing pore space and vastly improves the flow of air, water and nutrients.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fairways\nSportsgrounds is fortunately placed. It\nshares its Glasgow Airport HQ with sister company, Wiedenmann UK, and has\naccess to the full range of 11 Terra Spike deep aerators, spare parts and\nworkshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYes, we\u2019re\nin an enviable situation when it comes to operator training and best kit for\npurpose,\u201d continued Bobby McDougall. \u201cFor the contract I can access Terra Spike\nXP and XD machines \u2013 all the requisite 2.1 metres wide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
